Introduction To Mushroom Love

Updated: Apr 11, 2019

I've been strangely attracted to mushrooms since early college. I often wonder about an alternative life in which I had pursued mushrooms right from the start, but instead I took an academic English focused path. I have taken classes, taught myself to mushroom hunt with a friend in the midwest, gone to conferences and bothered scientists about mushrooms-- but wasn't able to make this love a gig.

Till now. Founding Mushroom Love Co. in 2018 on the heels of my first child being born, I'm excited to start growing and teaching about amazing mycelium!

In 2016 my husband and I left the comfort of Denver for the surprising and lovely life of the high mountains. We live just outside Buena Vista, Co on 3.5 acres of mixed farm land and pinon/cactus scrub. After the honor of learning from What The Fungus in British Columbia in the fall of 2016 I began practicing mushrooms in the high mountains (a special set of environmental factors, to be sure). Currently Mushroom Love focuses on the aggressive and yummy Oyster species. These mushrooms are hearty and fast growing with the right kind of love. In future years we hope to develop a lab and begin cloning our own species as well as growing some hardwood loving edible mushrooms, but for now we are focused on straw as a substrate.

To learn more about our emerging operation get in touch through facebook, instagram or email us. Sending you much love in your mushroom love,
